Jade began training in martial arts in 1998 under Sensei Craig Monie and brother, Aubrey Monie in Perth, Western Australia where he acquired his first ever black belt in Freestyle martial arts in 2003. Three years later he was awarded 2nd Dan in the same art coupled with 1st Dan in Muay Thai kickboxing. The proceeding 10 years saw Jade train at numerous schools and dojos throughout Australia challenging himself to experiment and explore various styles. As the universe would have it he eventually stumbled upon the Japanese art of Aikido in 2012.
Although regularly training in aikido Jade continued training in Freestyle martial arts under Sensei David Wilkes, finally grading to 3rd Dan in 2016 acquiring 1st Dan in Karate at the same time. After training under Sete Tele Sensei for five years he finally reached 1st Kyu (Brown Belt) in 2016.
In 2014 Jade set up Origin Martial Arts Academy managing it for three years before moving to Tasmania. Now residing on the North-West Coast, Jade has been granted permission by Sete Tele Sensei to operate Ka Riu Aikido Tasmania here in Penguin.
Ka Riu Aikido is affiliated with Yuishinkai Australia.
